Each speaker features a weather-resistant coating that keeps moisture out, along with a 6.5-inch injection-molded polypropylene cone woofer and a 1-inch Teteron dome tweeter. The drivers combine to yield crisp, dynamic highs and surprisingly full lows and mids, with an overall frequency response of 80 Hz to 20 kHz. And even though the speakers are designed for outdoor environments, they also excel in the home as rear speakers in a surround sound system.
The AS-06s shine because of their elite cabinet design and quality driver construction. The speakers are made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF), a dense, consistent wood material that ensures both great sound and minimum resonance. The woofers, meanwhile, are built for high performance, high efficiency, durability, and--of course--topnotch sound. The cones' injection-molded polypropylene stays rigid during the most extreme excursion, yet is light enough to enable fast movement, which means an accurate and tight bass response.
